These two cuties were the models for yesterday's "travel" photo. So yes, Diane, a very short horse as Shortcake is a miniature! Gracen is 3 and they are quite the pair.BTW - Shortcakes "travels" very well - moves out well, is sound, and tracks straight.
I love this picture! Says so much about Texas I think. And they make a cute pair. Love that saddle too, so different from the saddles we use over here. My daughter is a (very) good rider, but when we went to a dude farm in Bandera a few years ago she had to get used to western riding and the saddle that comes with it. Over here she had only done dressage riding (or English riding as the head wrangler called it at the time). After a test she was approved to go with the head wrangler on the advanced rides, the only kid in the group the rest were all adults. He allowed her to ride as the last rider, so she could do her own thing which she loved. They drove through wooded area's, fields and rivers, which she loved. During our holiday in Italy in August she went horseriding in the fields and woods again, unfortunately could not avoid a large branch, which made a huge, deep cut in her arm. Because they still needed to ride about a half hour back to the stables her friend took off her top and bandages it tightly, from the stables it was a quick trip to the ER, the docters there did a great job stitching it up. It remain scar, but we feel lucky it was not in her face. Anyway, I have always been afraid of horses, even though I adore them and have a huge respect for them.
ReplyDeleteThrough my daughters love of riding(she rode 6 days a week for years) I did learn a lot about them and so pictures like these always get to me. The relationship of a kid with a horse, just wonderful.
Love this photo and Shortcake has a lovely head. The saddle looks huge on him, but then as Phyllis says above, I am also only used to either racing, dressage or show jumping saddles. Take care Diane

ReplyDeleteJust the sweetest picture out there. I wish my grand daughter had the horse interest that Gracen has.
